Ginny Weasley

Ginevra "Ginny" Weasley, a cat lover, is theonlydaughter and youngest child of Molly and Arthur Weasley. She joinedHogwarts a year after the trio, and was sorted into Gryffindor house,the same as her fellow siblings. Even though around Harry, she was shyand timid, she got on extremely well with Hermione, both of themconfiding in each other, information they didn't tell either Ron norHarry.

Being surrounded by boys whilst growing up, Ginny has picked up many abilities and determination. When she was younger,her brothers would not let her participate in their Quidditch games.This resulted in Ginny breaking into the broom shed, and practicing on their brooms, without them knowing. They never found out until Ginny made it onto the Gryffindor team in her fourth year, and were all surprised by her talent. She was a seeker for the team, but hopes to become a Chaser in her fifth year, as she prefers to score goals, than to seek.

Ginnyhas had some trials in her life. In CoS,the Diary she had entrusted with her secrets, turned out to be an'echo', a memory of Tom Riddle, who in turn, fed off her worries andfears, then possessed Ginny, making her do some awful things around theschool. She was then taken down to the Chamber of Secrets, where, if itwere not for Harry, her body would still be.

Butshe has had some good times too. She acceptedNeville's invitation to be his partner for the Yule Ball, knowing thatit was the only way she would be able to go. (Third years were notpermitted unless escorted by a guest.) I do feel that she may have beenslightly 'gutted', when Ron suggested that she should go with Harry,but she kept her word to Neville, showing she has good moral values.She also dated a Ravenclaw, Michael Corner, in her fourth year.,bringing him along to the DA meetings (which she named). Sadly shedumped him in the end, purely because of his sulking that Gryffindorbeat Ravenclaw at Quidditch.

Ginnygot over her crush on Harry at some pointin her third year (Or so we are led to believe). Ginny has come on inleaps and bounds since we first met her. She is no longer the shy andtimid Weasley we all met, but a confident and strong person. She hasthe courage to speak up to Harry when he is in one of his moods, whenno-one would dare. She also refused to be left behind the night of theBattle at the Department of Mysteries, using the reasoning that she wasthree years older than what Harry was, when he first faced Voldemort.

Ginnyis a character who will grow strength bystrength. She is going to grow into a mature, and courageous youngwoman, who will be an asset to Harry, not only in the fight againstVoldemort, but also as a friend. Expect great things to come from Ginnyin the future.
