Cedric Diggory : Innocents fall first

Cedric Diggory was an extremely handsome young man. He had grey eyes, dark hair, and a straight nose. He was a Seeker and Quidditch captain for Hufflepuff Quidditch Team, a Hogwarts Prefect and Triwizard Tournament hero. First of all introduced in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkban, Cedric Diggory comes out as a true Hufflepuff - hard working, extremely polite, kind and fair. He was a remarkable Seeker and the little fame that Hufflepuff House received was largely due to Cedric. His fairness in the game of Quidditch was brought to the fore when he had asked for a rematch, because Harry Potter had fell off his broom because of the Dementors. But since Cedric had caught the snitch in all fairness, the game was awarded to Hufflepuff.

As a result, Cedric was quite popular (especially for a Hufflepuff!). Cedric is the son of Amos Diggory who works in the Ministry of Magic. He struggled with the pride his father felt towards him, which was so evident that it caused Cedric a good deal of embarrassment. It is obvious that Cedric was the pride and joy of the Diggory family, though I doubt this is the reason he behaved as well as he did. Cedric was the absolute personification of all things good and decent.

Robert Pattinson as Cedric Diggory

Robert Pattinson takes on the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

NAME: Cedric Diggory

BIRTHDAY: unknown

AGE: 17 when he died

Hair Color: dark

Eyes: Grey

House: Hufflepuff

Blood Purity: Pure-Blood (?)

PARENTS: Amos Diggory

SIBLINGS: unknown

PETS: unknown

POSITION: Seeker for Hufflepuff, Triwizard Tournament Champion from Hogwarts.

QUOTES:

'We're playing against each other again!'

The words "extremely handsome", "strong and silent type" describe him to perfection. Cedric also had a girlfriend - Cho Chang who was the Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch Team.

In Harry's third year, in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Cedric captained the Hufflepuff team which beat Gryffindor. In Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Cedric was selected to be the Hogwarts champion in the Triwizard Tournament by the Goblet of Fire, which was considered to be an impartial judge. When Harry is mysteriously selected as the Fourth Champion, Draco Malfoy, Harry's archrival, makes Support Cedric Diggory badges for the Slytherins.

Cedric, along with Moaning Myrtle, assists Harry in solving the clue of the second task of the Triwizard Tournament, in return for the help Harry had given him for the first task. In Goblet of Fire, Hagrid informs Harry about the First Task pertaining to Dragons, so that Harry could prepare himself for the task. Harry feels it to be his responsibility to inform Cedric about the Dragons. Initially Cedric is distrustful of Harry's tip, but ultimately follows Harry's advice and prepares to battle a dragon. As a goodwill gesture, he and Moaning Myrtle help Harry in solving the clue of the Golden Egg.

Poor Cedric will always remain somewhat of an unknown to us; right when he was getting interesting he was mercilessly slaughtered by Peter Pettigrew under Voldemort's instruction. He was practically perfect in every way, and the only people who spoke badly of him were those jealous of his looks, talent, or girlfriend. :) This is probably why he was killed. Perfect things cannot exist, and when their lives are taken in an unjust way, the outrage and grief felt by all is overwhelming. So overwhelming that the victim becomes legendary.

At the end of the third task Cedric refuses to take the cup without Harry, each of them having helped the other through the maze, so they grasp it together. The cup had been turned into a portkey by Voldemort's servant at Hogwarts. This portkey transports them tothe Riddle Graveyard in Little Hangleton where the Dark Lord -  Voldemort and his servant Wormtail are preparing to resurrect Voldemort's body. Voldemort gets Wormtail to murder Diggory with the Avada Kedavra curse. Through his force of mind and courage, and help from the echoes of Cedric, his parents and Frank Bryce, Harry escapes, bringing with him Cedric's body in accordance with Cedric's posthumous wish: that he be brought back to his parents.

Cedric's wand had the tail hair from a very fine male unicorn in it. It is remarked in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone that "Always the innocent are the first victims" by the Centaur Ronan, who was referring to unicorns, but this could also have been a clue, very cleverly dropped by Jo to foreshadow Cedric's murder.
